Tiny Say's V
It's a Trike "Thing".
It was with
much excitement that I begun my journey from Yorkshire down to The Red Barons humble abode
on the Kent/London border.I knew that I'd be able to "play" in his workshop,a
wonderful Alladins cave of all sorts of toys and stuff that always leaves me a
"wannabe".Also I would be sampling the good old Red Baron and Aunty Peg
hospitality, being pampered and supplied with gallons of maybe the best cuppa in the
south. And last but by no means least......I was picking up Mandys long awaited VW Striker
trike,"The Spirit of the Baron".I had been down south on a number of occassions
and had seen the Spirit slowly evolve but nothing prepared me for the finished
article.High gloss black, chrome and ally,5 seats,a superb pair of "one off" bars
on a trike that is the nearest you could get in our biker/triker world to a family saloon.
I spent 4 days at Reds house, helping(or was it
hindering?)him put the finishing touches to the Spirit. On the Friday I was ready for the
250 mile ride back up north.I left John and Pegs and set off for the Blackwall tunnel
realising how much I'd missed triking since selling the Beast 18 months ago.As the trike
was fitted with a 1600 reconditioned lump I knew that this was gonna be a slow but
enjoyable and leisurely ride home.It was bliss, nay, more than that,it was a motorised form
of pure nectar.I'd forgotten about how people come up and talk to you in the service
stations and how Mr Average with his Mondeo, peroxide wife and 2.4 children stood there
with an "if only" look in his eyes.I loved every minute of that ride home,I felt
like a film star every time I stopped for a coffee/fag break.I was on a high that could
not be beaten by anything, anything that is except for the look on my wifes face as I rode
the Spirit into the farmyard and she saw it for the first time. What she said summed it all
up."It was worth waiting the 5 years for".You see,I had promised her a trike
years ago but had never got around to sorting it.Well, now she's got one and she has the
biggest grin on her face that I have ever seen. She's got it in her blood now and I know
it'll never leave her,as it didn't leave me.Those of you with trikes will understand where
I'm coming from, those of you who don't,best you get one. It's the only way to find out for
yourself!Gotta go now and cook me and Billys tea, she's been out all day on the Spirit and
there's still no sign of her...............................

Took a Ride Out Today.......................
Dusted off the old 1100 today and went for a ride up to our new house. As I left our
village and headed North on the A19 I could see the white horse etched into the hillside
some 20 miles away.I grinned to myself because in less than a month I'll be living within
10 minutes of it and maybe one of the best viewpoints in North Yorkshire.I took my bike up
to about 70(no speedo) and passed a car crammed full of "family".The kids looked
bored, the missus looked asleep and the driver didn't look too far behind the wife. Now it
wasn't a warm day today, the roads were still a bit wet and the forecast wasn't very
promising but when I saw that cage it made my ride even more enjoyable. We on 3 or 2 wheels
have still got some kind of freedom,a freedom that isn't understood by the
"suits".Today,on my Honda,on a shitty day,not very warm and with no
heaters/blowers/windows to wind up I still wouldn't have swapped with Mr Average. What we
have all got is priceless,it will always be there(hopefully)all the time there's a 2 or 3
wheeled monster to ride. This might not make a lot of sense to some people but I dont give
a fuck....I'm happy!

Times they are-a-changing?
I thought you all might like to see this very
worrying letter I got from a Belgian Trike club.Remember that June 3rd next year will see
some drastic changes in the custom trike/bike world.I say get out of Europe NOW!

Hello Tikeriders ,
Here is the European Trike Kalender 2002,if you have a trikerally in 2002 send the date
to us in april 2003. We send only lor 2 times in a year information because we have more
than 1000 menbers in all the countries of Europe and the most people can find it on the
website www.t.rike.be and take calendar,linken... ...We are looking for trikers who want
to give information about. trikelaws and what is changing in the trikeworld in England.
Because in Belgium the trikelaw before 1984 was the same like in England. Now are the laws
very bad, we can only drive with a trike build in a factuy .We can drive 20 years without
helmet, now on the most trikes you wear a helmet. ( In 1998 and 1999 we can't drive with a
trike on the highway) In the most countries of Europe is the law changing for trikes and
the prices for trikes are expensieve .The cheapest new trike cost 12.000 Euro .The best
laws are in England. Fight to hold this laws. If someone will publicity for the show 2f/7
in England, I send him posters. www.trike.be
